samsung laptop - any good?

Hi all
I saw this laptop and liked the look of it.
Is it any good? Is it a fair price?

  • Just seen your post and thought I'd reply....

To get a resonable Intel i5 laptop with sufficient memory a large hard drive for less than £ 450 is pretty good going. I don't have any direct experience with Samsung laptops but from the spec. it pretty looks good!

Just thought I'd throw another suggestion into the ring as I've been looking at this particular laptop for a lady that attends a local computer club I volunteer at.

It seems to have very much the same type of spec as the Samsung and works out at just under £400 (£ 389 Incl VAT), which is an indicator I use, when recommending a laptop for a 'mature' student.
My son has had a Fujitsu Siemens (Esprimo Mobile V5505) for well over 4 years and it is still working, which is impressive as my son doesn't always treat electronic equipment with the respect it deserves......

    Hope this helps.

I observe that the original OP laptop doesn't support "wireless n", and there is no information about what resolution the webcam is - I suspect the rather poor 0.3 Mpixels. Other than that, it's not too bad.

You might like to compare it with some other Samsung laptops.
  • thanks for your replies.
i decided to bite the bullet and buy this laptop - although found it on amazon for £399 so got it a bit cheaper!

First impressions are that it is very quiet and for my needs more than suitable and the display is lovely. I'm not sure what you mean by "wireless n" - wireless networking? I have managed to link it up to our router wirelessly - anything more advances is probably something i wouldnt use anyway.
I suspect the webcam is not great but to be honest i dont use webcams anyway.

    Thanks again for your responses.
