B&Q - Customers cheques left on show

I was really annoyed yesterday in B&Q, i was queuing up to pay for some goods and the girl didnt seem to be taking much notice my dad who was being served in front of me she was too busy gabbing to her friend.. when i got to the till she still showed no customer service skills at all...(which annoys me anyway cos i work in retail and a smile and acknowledgment at least is free and just good manners!!)
Anyway as it come to me putting my PIN no in for my debit card i noticed lying blatantly infront of me where 2 or 3 cheques just tucked under the edge of the girls till monitor... i had a closer look and realised these where customers cheques!
Surely these should have been put in the cash drawer not left VERY obviously on show???!!! The were literally just lying on the checkout with just the tiniest corner tucked under the edge of the monitor of the till... i could read all the details! Amount, name, sort code, account no everything!
Maybe its just me but i wouldnt be happy any tom, richard or harry being able to see cheques id use in a shop to pay for stuff

If your talking about there Aintree store, I agree with you. Just wait until you have to return an item, one of the girls has got no manners at all and I have now given up saying "please and thankyou" to her. I now just give her the item and my card, she doesnt even ask if I want a refund or replacement and she seems to treat all customers the same.0

Perhaps these cheque's were bounced ones and served as a reminder to the staff not to accept cheque's from those people??3.78 kWp PV SolarEdge with iBoost South facing.

The only fraud that can be commited by seeing a persons account number and sort code on a cheque (if that was what you are getting at) is the ability to deposit money into that account.
I could fall for the "putting money into my account" fraud all day.0 -
There is no real security breach here - you give out the same details every time you give a cheque to anyone. What may be more concerning for the girls is that if those cheques got dropped on the floor/lost before they were put away then the customers would be getting 'free' goods from B&Q. Still, with an attitude as you described, I doubt this would be something they would worry too much over.Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0

B&Q customer service is dreadful in my local store in Watford - the staff are stroppy and sullen, and usually shout over your shoulder to their mates on other tills while only serving you with gestures and grunts.
I had stuff delivered from them last summer and when I needed to call about the order it took two days to get an answer on their main phone, and every time I called they left me hanging for at least ten minutes. I eventually went into the shop and they too had customer info (order forms) lying around.
I hate going in there and only do now if I can't get what I need at homebase, where they are ridiculously slow, but generally able to string a sentence together while serving you!For everything else, there's MSE :T0
