Wireless Key

I changed the wireless key on the router expecting Windows 7 to prompt for the new key and connect. But it doesn't, it just sits there doing nothing, why?

It doesn't know which of several networks to connect to, why not just click on the wireless icon and proceed from there, how are you posting?
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • I'm connecting via ethernet at the moment.

When I click the wifi icon I get the dialog box with the list of neighbourhood routers, but mine just has a Connect button with no window for the router key. If I click to connect it just goes dead and does nothing.

It doesn't recognise that it needs to prompt for a new key if the old one doesn't work.
  • Right click on your router icon (from the list of available networks) and select status (or maybe properties) Should be able to enter your new key in there somewhere.

Thanks S_C, that's fixed it, I'm always forgetting the mouse pad has two buttons. Now I can go and sit where I like instead of being tethered to the router.

But it's intriguing, I'd already found that dialogue box via a much more long winded route through the control panel, but when I put the key in there two days ago it didn't work!

    Isn't Windows wonderful.
