SSE 9% Increase - AND THE REST!

How many SSE customers have checked their ACTUAL electricity unit price increase from 15th October? I'll bet it's not 9% as I know one tariff has gone up over 16%. It would be interesting to know if other tariffs have increased in excess of 9% (depends on your distribution area as well).

    Tariff for THTC (ex VAT):-

Standard Unit charge was 15.95 now 18.50
Heating Unit charge was 7.04 now 8.24
  • Hi cgzz,

    I'm in a similar situation.

My flat in Aberdeen has a THTC (Total Heating Total Control) prepay meter through Scottish Hydro. Increases here work out to 13%, so I imagine it depends on your location:

Standard Unit before 15/10/2012 was 17.10p and is now 19.32p.
THTC rate was 8.96p, now 10.12p.

The tariffs are from the meter itself and include VAT. There is no way to verify these tariffs because THTC rates aren't included on their website.

So, it appears Scottish Hydro's latest strategy is hoping customers don't bother to check the actual increases from what they have announced.

Will give them a call and find out what's going on soon.
  • Just rang SSE

Old Heating Control was 8.24p now its 9.84p

Standard energy remaining same at 18.5p

    St Charge same at 14.09p

Last year I used 9680kWh on Heating control as was useless at predicting my storage for the next day, this year will try be more efficient.

My Standard Energy was 2113kWh for the year. Not too bad I thought.

I pay £130 a month and the women on the phone reckoned that I should keep it at that throughout the winter.
