Halifax mis-sold me ppi and wont give me a refund.

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any advice. Basically I applied for a halifax cc over the phone in 2004, i was basically ambushed by the rep into agreeing to taking out ppi. He informed me that in the event of sickness, redundancy etc they take over the payments and hence less of a financial burden. He also said if i take out ppi it would put weight behind my app. Basically, i was paying large amounts of monthly repayments for over 4 yrs when i was made redundant. When informing halifax of my need to claim on the policy, i was told that they only pay the monthly interest and not the full monthly payment despite being assured of this at point of sale. I complained then in 2007 that i had been mis-sold it but was fobbed off so as soon as i resumed new employment I cancelled the ppi after such a rip off! Anyway, i have recently sent off the claim questionairre off mse website and received a reply saying they have decided i wasnt mis-sold ppi. The person who wrote to me had no facts and filled his statements with" in my opinion...my beliefs are...my feeling is..." and it was this subjectivity which informed his decision. I have sent off a reply, challenging all his comments and have asked for copies of the documentation, original policy and any other evidence which informed his decision as I will be now taking it to the ombudsman. Surely they must have call logs on my a/c from when i originally complained back then? Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice welcomed!

If you agreed to it over the phone, you agreed full stop.
If you have already complained and they have rejected your claim, you will just get another rejection, once they reject your claim, you dont get a second bite at the cherry. Unless you reply straight away to appeal.
You dont stand a chance with the ombudsman either, becuase of the above.
Sorry, looks as if its game over for you.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

You need to provide this evidence, not the Bank. The onus of proof is upon you as the complainant and (unfortunately) your complaint is very weak. FOS will take a year or more to adjudicate.kellie2603 wrote: »have asked for copies of the documentation, original policy and any other evidence which informed his decision as I will be now taking it to the ombudsman.0 -
No, PPI pays a fixed amount and it will be what you signed up for. You bought a policy to pay x amount and thats what it would have done. You cant then make a claim and then say actually I want increased cover.kellie2603 wrote: »When informing halifax of my need to claim on the policy, i was told that they only pay the monthly interest and not the full monthly payment despite being assured of this at point of sale.0
