Damaged item sent overseas

I sold an item to an overseas buyer.

He has reported back that it arrived damaged. I asked for photographs, but he has responded "Sorry, I don't have a digital camera"

What should I do next, as the return postage will probably be more than the item is worth (£30)

thanks

Tell him to borrow a friends camera, or use his phone.

Suggest that if they're unable to send a photo, they can return the item at their own cost, and you will refund them on receipt of the item.
This might prompt them to find a camera.

Say sorry as you cannot provide close up detailed photo's you can forward to the courier you have no choice but to ask them to return it so that you can refund them.

Dont tell them to find a camera, See how quickly they suddenly find one.

Depending on their reply i may insist on it being returned anyway.

Would I have to refund the 'extra postage' too ?

Thats down to you. If you think they are genuine and it did arrive damaged.

Then i would personally refund them. If they seem to be pushing for a refund or partial refund may think they are trying it on.

When you leave feed back, Maybe say sorry it arrived damaged to help prevent people doing that for a living.
