The thing is in financial services when you work for another company and leave they tend to claim ownership of your clients and unless you have them all backed up and safely stored by other means theres not a lot you can do about it. The online backup company i use cost £14 a month - these companies are springing up all over the placeI am a Mortgage Adviser

Please would you pm me the name of online backup company you use MM?
Have just realised that I am going to have to get a fax machine!
Having said that I do have an online fax service which I use for incoming mail, which is free. Outgoing I would pay for.
Using an online service for faxes would be okay wouldn't it? I might be better off with a machine, though.
So many things to think about!0 -
Hi Shameless yes I will PM it to you
I dont have a fax machine I use a company called efax which costs about £7 a month. Only problem is sometimes you have to scan documents in before you fax them, i think the best investment you could make is to get a scanner/printer with a feeder so it reduces the amount of time you spend copying. If you cant afford an admin assistant there is a hell of a lot of copying to do, certifying ID and payslips and sending to alender, then if paper based you will need a copy of the mortgage application (one for yourself and one for the company) same for a life assurance app which is typically 40 pages wrong - you get the picture I'm sure which is why its better to have an offsite back up rather than lots of paper filesI am a Mortgage Adviser

Going back a couple of years mortgage brokers must have been responsible for the rapid disappearance of the rain forests!
My scanner/printer/photocopier is all in one machine - will check the instructions to see what it is capable of!0 -

Not really in the early 90's a fact find was mostly less than 4 pages very often just 1.
I think mine is now about 40 pages. Application forms have grown and now we have a 3 page Initial Deception Document plus a longer record of stupidity. To offset against this there is of course the good old scanner and paedophiles (pdf files) which are not entirely uncorruptable. Then there is Mr Murphy whose law states that any bit of paper accidentally lost or ant pdf file corrupted is bound to belong to someone complaining.I like to give people as many choices as possible to do what I want them to. Well, Mr Helpful, at least you managed to keep your sense of humour through it all!
40 pages for a fact find ?????????????? Good heavens!0 -
Some fact finds are longer I think Mortgage Intelligences is 44. I think when regulation came in in 2004 Halifax had a 13 page KFI. Like any customer would read that DOH. Some record of suitabilitys rivaled st pauls letter to the crrinthians.shameless-about-money wrote: »Well, Mr Helpful, at least you managed to keep your sense of humour through it all!

Yes without the humour I would be full time somewhere else. There are two ways to stop complaints. One is to trust no one and get signatures at every point. The other is to deal in such dodgy markets that the customer is scared to complain in case he incriminates himself. I work in the first scenario but I do know people in the second.I like to give people as many choices as possible to do what I want them to. (Milton H Erickson I think)0 -
