Found a (very) old cheque - advice?

Hi everyone,
I've just been going through my useless (!) husband's paperwork and I've found a cheque from a previous employer for a few hundred pounds. Goodness only knows why it was never cashed!
It's dated January 2006 - should I try to present this to the bank to be cashed or am I being ridiculous! Not sure what I can do with it (if anything of course).
Any advice appreciated.

The bank will not process it. The lifetime of a cheque is six years but in reality most banks will not process anything over six months old.
Your best chance is to go back to the person that issued it and see if they will write you another one.Today is the first day of the rest of your life0
