Leek Moths

Hello,

Has anyone had a problem with Leek moths? Little blighters have affected half of my crop. The plants don't die but are not as big as they could be!

I think Leek moth is only present where I am (south coast).

We get the dratted leek moth and grow all leeks under cover from start to finish. Leek moth has two main cycles april-may and aug-oct, the last one is the worst. It can also go for shallots and onions so I now put those under cover as well. It really is a bleeping pest and I decided to take my lovely large leeks up in july this year and I dehydrated them. I never leave any allium rubbish on the allotment as the moth overwinters in it

I use enviromesh and make sure there are no holes in it as the moth is small and gets in through holes as testified by my allotment neighbour

I am aiming to get winter alliums in very soon but have had to set to and get the cages ready first.

Leeks used to be the easiest crop to grow but the moth has put an end to that and it is definitely spreading north

When recently visiting Hinton Ampner, a local National Trust property, I noticed that they were using red coloured moth traps suspended amongst their plants similar to these http://www.agralan.co.uk/Home-and-Garden-Catalogue/Insect_Pest_Control?product_id=16698
I've had a look and can't find any exactly like these online.
