Launching a Website

I hope someone can help!

I'm a relative technophobe so please go easy!

I have made a website on my iMac and now I want to put it one the web. In the old days, you could do this through mobile.me but Apple have now done away with this.

Can anybody tell me the easiest (and cheapest) way of doing this?

What is this website? Something for a hobby? A business??

Getting it onto the net isnt difficult, there are free hosts out there but they predominately will add advertising to your site which is possibly fine for a hobby but not for a business (given its content sensitive it would possibly advertise your competitors).

You can get very cheap hosting with no adverts but they tend to have no SLAs and so if it goes down your site could be missing for hours or days; again not much a problem for a hobby but unacceptable for a business.

There is evidently professional hosting but that comes at a higher cost (though we are still talking sub fifty quid a year)
