Hayter 41 self propelled - too slow

I find that the speed of Hayter is much slower than my old Suffolk Punch, I'd call it a slow walking pace. It's running/cutting fine, about 3000 rpm on full speed.

Is this as fast as I can expect?

It's a 2000 307R version with Briggs engine. It will rev a lot faster by pressing the governor, but assume it is restricted for noise and/or safety.

The trhrottle cable is correctly adjusted. However there maybe a simple tweak that I cant find/work out.

You'll probably find the top speed is limited by its ability to cut - i.e. if you go any faster it won't cut well so you'll end up doing it twice. ;)
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Are rotary mowers generally slower than cylinder mowers?

I don't know I'm afraid, I have to push mine. I get a better cut and kill less frogs if I go slowly though. :D

Many cylinder mowers get used 2-3 times a week and don't have much grass to cut each time. They are usually able to cut faster than the user can walk. Rotary mowers tend to get used on less fine grass, cut a proper amount of grass each time, and need to be used slowly enough that they can cope.

My ride-on does 9km/h, walk behind does 5. This is plenty and I cut lawns all day without feeling it holds me back.

If your mower is too slow you should consider getting rid of it and getting a 48 instead. 41 is woefully narrow and would be frustrating.
