PPI Help!

I have a policy that I was advised to take out with Standard Life for my Mortgage to cover Critical Illness & redundancy. It is called a Lifetime Protection Series Level Protection Plan.
Is this just any other fancy name for PPI?
Also, can I go through the PPI claims with this?
