Flea medicine - generic vs. brands

Do only brand name flea medicines work? I'm beginning to wonder! In July I treated our cat with the Wilko's own version of 'spot on' flea repellent, all was well for 4 weeks, then almost to the 30th day he seemed to be scratching, treated him again and all was fine for 2 weeks, then scratching again, so I treated him…

I have totally given up on Frontline now it's useless I only use Advocate or Stronghold.

I agree with Bob Martins comment my local animal hospital has a bit newsboard with information on how dangerous that stuff is. It's caused a lot of cats to suffer seizures ect. I refuse to let it in my house
