Wickes Kitchen

We have finally decided on a Wickes kitchen

What should we expect to pay for fitting?

Tommorow we go to order and now we think we should use them for fitting. The quote for units is just under £5000 for 19 base units, including intergrated appliances and 11 wall units. Does not include worktops.

What should we expect to pay for fitting and are we right to go with Wickes (they contract out) or find our own fitter.

ps Pleae don't say we shouldn't have chosen Wickes as I don't want to be murdered tonight!!!

    Thank you

is that not a bit expensive?

you can get the same cheaper if you live in birmingham

Do you mean £5000 is expensive? It was less than half the price of any other quote.

We had a Wickes kitchen fitted by their fitters in November...never again! Installation cost us more than the price of the kitchen (which was around £2500 including hob, oven, sink and taps for solid oak canterbury range) as there was quite a bit of electrical work, plumbing and relocation of gas outlet. We had so many problems and it took months before the last leak (plumbing done by a carpenter!) was fixed. It was an extremely stressful experience that i have no intention of ever repeating!

I would very very strongly advise you find your own tradesmen to do the job. Wickes subcontract out to multiassistance Limited who subcontract out again taking a percentage cut (around 33% from my estimates) in the process - so straight away it's going to cost you much more.

The only advantage I can see of getting wickes to fit it is their tradesman will take delivery of the kitchen and store it until it's needed and there's an indepedent 5 year guarantee on the workmanship.

Although i am happy with the units supplied by Wickes, I deeply regret having used their installation service and could have saved myself probably £1000 or more and a lot of stress if i'd chosen my own tradesmen.

So my advice, unless your confident enough to DIY it, take your time to pick your own tradesmen (getting at least 3 quotes), take delivery of the wickes kitchen yourself and check it carefully when it arrives.

    Good luck!

We got the quote today - £2700  which is 50% of the cost of the kitchen.

We will be putting the units together and taking out the old kitchen and finding our own fitter.
