death planning - SCOTLAND

Something else it could be is something like water supply pipe cover - you know, one of those policies which cover one item specifically, like pipes, so they're relatively cheap and you'd only pay it annually?
I wouldn't worry too much about it, as it was an annual payment, its not going to be a savings policy or anything that's likely to be due as a credit to the estate. I think we had one like that on my dad's statement - we never did figure out what it was!
Thank you, the funeral was yesterday - yet i certainly feel worse today than any other day.
Before my Gran passed she always mentioned that (in her opinion) there would be £7.5k to cover the cost of the funeral and enough to 'get a lick of paint on the walls' before selling.
None of us queried this is any detail as it was obviously a morbid subject and considering how long Gran had battled cancer we did not want to indicate that we were writing her off. We wanted to remain confident around her and encourage her to keep fighting; which she did until the very end.
Now, either my gran just presumed this figure - as the info we have found in her paperwork indicates that she was only covered for £5555 over 4 different policies within the same company (of which we will only receive a certain % of the last policy as it had not been paid into for 2 full years.
Or, there is another policy that we are not aware of. Is there anything i can do, search a national database or something that may highlight any accounts that my gran may have had - but we do not have any paperwork for?
Thanks

Would this help?
I'm sorry I don't have time to read through it to see if its what you're after, but I saw it posted on another thread when someone was asking much the same as you.
I'm glad you got through yesterday OK, its a very difficult time for everyone. Take care x
Many Thanks!
You must have read my mind last night - as I discovered it whilst surfing this website in bed
I have ticked the boxes of all financial institutions available just in case!
The funeral is over and done with and I have rung around all institutions that we have paperwork for to cancel/notify them of my Gran passing
I had a meeting at her bank and much to my surprise they just flagged up all her direct debits as 'person now deceased' then gave me the balance of her bank account (it wasnt much though i hasten to add)
Is this standard procedure? I am certainly not complaining but I have read other info where the bank freezes the account until probate occurs...?
Many Thanks for all the help

It depends on the bank's own policies. Probate is really just proof that you are entitled to deal with an estate. For small amounts most organisations will accept just the death certificate and the Will as sufficient proof.
Can the bank really not help with details of where the funds are sent? Surely they must have a sort code which would identify which bank the receiving a/c is with. And there is usually a reference or description of some kind. (Think about when you dispute a transaction on your a/c, your bank can usually tell you what type of business the payment has gone to: travel, retail etc.)Eat food. Not too much. I wish Lloyds were as easy to deal with ~ my dad passed away in April aged 70 (6 months ago yesterday in fact), and his bank still won't release the money to me even though I obtained Probate on 17 July. I've now moved the executor account to my own bank but they still haven't released his funds - very very frustrating as its not their money to hold on to.
As to whether its standard procedure, they do all seem to have their own ways of dealing with these things, and if its not much, many seem to release it.0
