Energy Monitor

Sorry if this is a stupid question ...
Like many of us at the moment, am looking for ways to cut our electricity costs.
We have an old type gas meter (we're with Scottish power - they were going to change it 2 years ago but didn't, and have ignored all attempts to contact them about it).
Does this mean that the only type of energy monitors I can use are those that are plugged into an individual appliance (rather than monitoring the total energy usage of the house ) ?
Thanks.

I'm afraid that Energy Monitors can only be fitted to the Electric supply - Other than having a check meter fitted to the gas supply, which the supplier will do at your request and cost, there is no easy way to monitor the efficiency of the gas consumption and accuracy of the meter0

Assuming that you are talking about electricity, you can fit an 'overall' monitor to any type of meter, old or new.
Gas meters only measure volume, not energy. No free lunch, and no free laptop
