should I wait for £50 cash back?
OK so today I see that British Gas who supply both my Gas and Electric are about to announce price increases of about 8% for each, I am on a tariff called online energy which will pay £50 credit into my gas account on the 30th November 2012 as long as I am still on that tariff, what I would like is your views on whether I should sit where I am or switch to their fixed price May 2014 plan.
online energy from their email :-
The Online Energy discount period applies from and including 17th November 2011 until and including 31st January 2014, subject to VAT and regulatory changes and changes to discounts applied to your bill. The Online Energy rates are at a guaranteed discount of 4% for domestic electricity and gas customers below our Standard variable rates for credit customers only.
fixed price May 2014 from their web site:-
With this tariff, you don’t need to worry about your gas and electricity rates changing until the 31st May 2014. For peace of mind and easier budgeting your rates are fixed at an 8.8% premium above our 22nd June 2012 Clear & Simple unit rates. Fixed Price May 2014 comes with a daily standing charge and a single unit rate to make it easier to understand how much you’re paying.

BG prices will not rise until 16/11/12, so hold on for your bonus. All the other suppliers will follow now.
You've long missed the boat on the cheap fixes I'm afraid. Use a comp site with your annual kWh figures to find the best one left.No free lunch, and no free laptop
