IB adult addition allowance-can carers allowance be claimed?

Hi,
I am on IB contribution based and receiving an adult addition of £50-£60 a week for my partner because we have a child.
Out child has autism and gets high care dla, my partner gets middle care dla as well for her various physical problems.
Am I right in thinking that because I get an adult addional payment for my partner thorugh my IB that this rules out her claiming as a carer for our son?
Its complicated rules I know but would like to find out.
Thanks very much

Do you have Income Support as well?
If not?
Do you pay any rent or council tax?0 -
We don't claim income support or rent or council tax wouldn't be entitled to it, because of savings, its contribution based IB I receive but as stated I get an adult dependance allowance for my partner as we have a child.
To be honest I don't think she can claim carers allowance for our autistic child as I already get an allowance for her.
But just wanted to make sure from some of the knowledgable people on here.
Thanks for reply.

Up until recently, my husband was on long term income-based IB, with DLA, and I claimed carers allowance for him. My CA was deducted from the IB, but there was an additional premium added back on, so overall we were slightly better off.
If I recall correctly, the CA claim did begin just before his IB kicked in (while he was still on SSP), so I'm not sure if that affected anything, but it can only be worth asking ... the Benefit Enquiry Line (solely for disabled and carers) was always very good when I needed to use them - 0800 882 200.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
CA and the IB AD are overlapping benefits - you can choose to receive one or the other.

She could claim carers and she would get paid it at £55+ weekly, your partner addition in your IB would be reduced by the same amount so no gain really apart from her national insurance being paid while on carers.
You will have the option later if needed to claim carers for looking after her if you lose the IB or fail to get ESA etc.0
