Workplace bullying! What do i do???

I have been employed for over 2 years with the company i now work for and from day one of starting there i have experienced what i now see as bullying from co workers. All started as minor sarcastic comments, then came the malicious rumours. I started to make complaints to management, following proper proceedures and basically feel now that nothing has been done about these matters as some management and these co workers not only socialize in work but outside too. The impression i get now is put up and shut up. Until now, recently i had a family pet of 13 years put to sleep, i was absolutly devestated, so i went into work, explained the circumstances and as i was on voluntary overtime, asked if i could go home. This was granted. The next day i discovered that someone in work had set up a profile on a social media website to attack me and my situation, using the company name and involved itself with people from my workplace. Not only that i also found discriminating content on a co workers page that clearly was sexually discriminating towards me. I took screen shots of everything i saw and logged a formal greivance against my co workers. This was just over a week ago. Since then i continued to go to work as i have never had a day sick in my working history but it has got that bad today i had to ring in sick due to the stress of it all. As investigations are continuing it has become unbearable to work amongst these people. 36 people plus more are being questioned about this situation and i was informed that it wouldnt be easy, i thought i could be strong enough to get though it but i cant now. Im not sure now what to do. Leave my job? I have never experienced anything like this.

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing bullying in the workplace.
By the sound of things you are going through the correct procedure. Unfortunately, this procedure (especially if it involves upto 36 people) will take a long time to investigate and interview all these people.
In the meantime, whilst at work continue taking notes of any instances of bullying for gathering evidence.
If you are not a member of a Trade Union, it may be worth your while trying to join to give you some back-up.
This, however, is an existing issue, and some may not take on your case because it is an existing issue. I do think it's worth a try though - perhaps one of them may take your case on.
No other advice other than try to hang in there if you really like your job. If you don't, then perhaps it's time to look for something else and cut your losses. Only you can make that decision. As my Mum always said "Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves"0 -
I agree with the above reply.
I would also see your doctor and fully explain how you feel. Although you can self certify for the first week most GPs will give you a certificate in these type of circumstances. A few carefully chosen words from the doctor explaining the reason for absence can be very helpful.
The firm have a legal duty to protect their staff from harm in the workplace. Although obviously harder to prove than a physical injury this is just as true for psychological illness.0 -
Cracker, i can't really say anything to help you except try and hold your-self to-gether.
Don't give up and let the bully win.
I would expect your employer will take this seriously in the fact their name has been brought into it.:cool:0 -
Is bullying or just workplace gossip?0

Could stop logging onto Facebook and looking for this stuff.
Just a suggestion.0 -
36 people are bullying you at work? Are you serious?
There is no smoke without fire.
I cannot think of one possible scenario where 36 (are you sure?!?) people would bully someone at work.
but anyway, like above have said, just wait for the procedures to run through, they do take a long time.
Are you completely aware of why this bullying is occuring? is there nothing at all you can do about it?0 -
Just rise above it...be strong and carry on at your job. Why should you leave because other people are unkind.0

Take screenshots of the fb stuff. Raise a grievance stating clearly that this is online bullying. Remind your employer they have a duty of care to protect you from bullying...Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

Does this duty extend beyond the workplace?0
