Best 'purple' shampoo and conditioner

Are there any hair experts out there who can recommended a good value 'purple' shampoo and conditioner, recently had highlights and hairdresser recommended not using cheaper brands as 'they will strip my hair of colour'. Always been a 'whatever on offer' haircare person but did fork out for their stuff at 10 times price I would normally pay! Running out now, do I splurge out again or are the cheaper brands fine?

I would not recommend a cheaper brand. I've had blonde hair for years and the only product I know that really does keep it looking good is the purple John Freida. It is dear, about £4.50 a bottle or £5.50 but 3 for 2 at Boots frequently.I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."

This, it's really good at toning down any brassiness too.0 -
Thanks both, both are a lot cheaper than one at hairdressers, will give them a try!0

I love Tresemme, the colour protect one. Used it when I had blonde hair, brown hair, red hair and I use it now when I have dark berry coloured hair

It is usually on offer somewhere, asda had it last week for £2 for the large 1 litre bottle.

I use Loreal Professional Silver Shampoo. It is expensive from the hairdressers but I get a huge 1500ml size bottle from ebay which costs £14 delivered. It lasts me the best part of a year and definately makes the colour last longer :0)Getting married to Mr M [STRIKE]August[/STRIKE] April 2013!:TWedding diet - 16lbs:jRachel x0

It was always Touch of Silver or Lush Daddy-O for me when I had white-blonde hair too.Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0

My Mum also uses this, you can really tell the difference from when she uses normal shampoo.EpsomOldie wrote: »I use Lush's Daddy-O shampoo: https://www.lush.co.uk/product/110/Daddy-O-Shampoo-100g ...it's got a lovely smell of violets too.0 -
