dont want car insurers prefered repairer
need to get my car fixed after non fault accident ,and my insurers have told me to go to a local company that is is reknown in our area for extortionate quotes and shoddy work . I have been to see them for a quote , guy said sit in reception while i go over your motor and will be back in 15 mins... 45 mins later receptionist went to see whats happening , oh the assessor forgot to come back to you here your keys , will be intouch Monday (4 days time) ...... totally fuming , rang acouple of mechanics to ask of decent reputable car body repair shop, same name popped up , went to see them ,did assessment there and then, explained everything about the job and said he would drop quote off next day, ... impressed.. .. can i tell my insurance company that i dont want to use their repairer as im not comfortable with them, and use the body shop that i want to do the job.. thanks

Yes you can pick your repairer. If you were lined up for a courtesy car form the insurer's approved bodyshop, there may be no guarantee of one from the place you prefer.
But if it's a non-fault claim, then no harm ringing the other party's insurer to ask them to sort you with a hire car for the duration yours is out of action.0 -
receptionist who returned my keys, said that she had the quote there,i asked if i could have a copy , she said i will send it to your insurance company, and get intouch with you on monday. she seemed reluctant to give me a copy , am i entitled to one ?0

Yes it is your car, but unless repairer is on your insurers approved list they may insist on three quotes."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

am i entitled to a copy of their quotes0

Not if the quote has been requested by the insurer. The price is between the insurer and the garage, and they don't "have" to let you see.
If you want a quote, then ask for one. (Garages price differently for insurers than "cash sales")
(You are entitled to know what repairs are being quoted for, if that's what you mean - otherwise why do you need to see the quote?)0
