Vista Connection & Belkin Router Problem

Options
Hi
I have bought a new PC with Vista. I am having horrendous problems with my internet connection. I have a wireless router from Belkin that worked OK(ish )with Xp but it either drops off or refuses to come on at all now. Spoke to Belkin who have sent me an email with an updated driver with a .bin extension for which I can't find any sites that can open it.
I am back on my talk talk router at the moment.
So, I need to know - can you preccommend a page so I can use the .bin extension
and
has anyone else had this problem?
Spoke to talktalk this morning in India 3 times but i ended up putting the phone down on them as they hadnt got a clue what i was talking about and kept passing the buck to Belkin and then fobbed me off with a different phone number that was completely wrong:mad:
I also need to work out how to make my 10 metre ethernet cable disappear as its traipsing across my hall and into the iving room at the moment.
Im sure the guy at PC world said my new PC was wireless ready but I think he was wrong.

Any suggestions would be appreciated:rolleyes:

If the bin file is a router firmware upgrade, then http://192.168.2.1, do it wired.

but if it didn't happen before, I doubt it is anything to do with Vista or the router.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

I have spent most of the easter holidays on that page. Just tried to go on it again, but it won't connect at all now! Getting very frustrated!
Need the magic internet Fairy to fix it

If this a desktop PC then it is likely to need a wireless USB adaptor or a wireless PCI adapter, do you have any of these? If you do, then make sure the adaptor has the required drivers for Vista.

I don't think the problem lies in the router compatibilty with Vista, since you don't usually need router drivers to connect to it by ethernet or wireless.

It would help to give out all the details of your system and wireless setup.

    Ok, the details are:
PC - hp slimline s7750 Desktop PC
Router - Belkin ADSL 2+ Modem with Wirelss G_Router
    model no. F5D7632-4 ver.6011uk
    ISP _talktalk
I have an USB adapter too I think - it looks like a memory stick - is that the one? How would I get a driver for that?

Do you need to know anything else?

Can't find any mention of wireless on the above PC spec, therefore you will need to install the USB wireless adaptor and make sure it is updated to run on Vista.

  • My mate is having similar problems and it appears that vista and suitable drivers is the main issue

If your USB wireless adapter is the Belkin FSD7050uk this may or may not work on Vista, since it is usually supplied with XP drivers. If it fails to work with the supplied drivers, you may be able to obtain Vista driver updates from Belkin.
