boiler keeps starting up

Hi, I've just noticed that my boiler keeps starting up about every half hour when the heating is off and no hot water taps are on.
I have a Vaillant turbomax 824e which sits in my garage and first noticed this when I had the gas bill for the summer come in and it was double what it normally is.
the boiler display shows the internal temperature as 40 but then the boiler comes on and heats it up to anything between 65 -70 and then the temperature slowly starts to drop untill it reaches 40 again and then it heats it up all over again.
does anyone know what the problem is and roughly how much it will cost to fix ?
thanks
BB

It's not a fault, it's a feature. It's called warmstart and can be disabled by turning the hot water knob to zero then back up to the temp you want.Hi, I've just noticed that my boiler keeps starting up about every half hour when the heating is off and no hot water taps are on.

Warmstart operation (turboMAX plus only)
The warmstart facility provides instantaneous delivery of
domestic hot water from the turboMAX plus boiler. When
the warmstart system is switched ON the boiler will
automatically light periodically to maintain the internal
temperature of the boiler at approximately 40 °C. When
the warmstart system is switched OFF a short delay may
be experienced in obtaining hot water at the tap.
•The warmstart system is activated by turning the hot
water temperature control knob (1) all the way to the
very right for a short time. The green indicator light
will now illuminate. Reset the hot water temperature
control knob to the desired setting. The boiler will now
provide instantaneous delivery of hot water directly
when a hot water tap is turned on.
•The warmstart system is switched off by turning the
hot water temperature control knob (1) all the way to
the very left for a short time. The green indicator light
is not illuminated. Reset the hot water temperature
control knob to the desired setting. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
thanks guys
I will try switching the warmstart off and see what happens.
the boiler is about 10 years old and I have never had to touch it untill recently when I came home about a month ago to find I had no hot water, so I pressed the reset button this got the boiler working again.
could this be my problem ?
thanks

There isn't a problem (see posts 2, 3 & 4) and the cost to fix it will be, errr ummmm, however much you value your time in relation to the action of turning the knob off and on again.Does anyone know what the problem is and roughly how much it will cost to fix ?

I was going to suggest a frost 'stat kicking in, since the boiler is in the garage, but obviously not.No free lunch, and no free laptop

I was going to suggest the diverter valve stuck mid position and the warm start kicking in too often as it is also warming the rads.
OP, do any rads get warm when they shouldn't?0
