Carter Forbes (scammers)

Hi

I had a old dept that a ex girlfriend renewed a payday loan that i did not know about (me being stupid) i then look at my file and see a default so contact the company who advised me that the loan amount was for £125 and now since its been 3 years the amount is £1100. But thy would accept payment of £125 today. So i said send that in a email and i will pay it, once i received the email them i rang to make payment via my credit card and they said it would not go through, so i rang my card issuer who said nothing was wrong but they could see they were putting in the wrong expiry date and then while i was on the phone to them advised me they just tried to put a payment through for £1100, i rang them back and they denied it then said it was a mistake. so i asked to be put through to a manager and they tried blagging me off anyway we agreed £125 and the dept was clear and they would close account, so i made payment, checked my card when i got home and they had taken another payment for £10 2 hours later so i got my email up to get their details to call and see another email from them saying there has been a mistake (another one) and they had taken another payment out for £10 but if i give them my account number and sort code they would refund it and give me a good will gesture.

Surely they can just refund my card the amount they took of my credit card so why they asking for my bank details, plus surely once i made forst payment and account was closed then they should not hold my card details anymore.

What shall i do is there any law on how they can take payments?

any help would be much appreciated, sorry for such a long read.

Regards, Mark

The first thing i would do would be call the credit card company and get them to block any more payments from this company.

it sounds like someone is either trying to be sneaky or just plain thick. They only need the 16 digit card number and expiry date for a refund, nothing else.

Ask them to put there claim for an account number and sort code in writing, if they refuse, i would demand a refund of the £20 they have taken from you. keep an eye on your account over the next couple of days and keep a record of it's balance to the penny, and what you spend.

Make sure you are speaking with a manager when you demand your refund, do not deal with the monkeys!

    !

They can't block payments to a retailer..

But the OP does need to talk to them. While it may not help. I would stop the card as lost....

In reality giving these co's a card no is carte blanch to take what they want.
Unless you have something in writing stating that they will only take £125 and the debt will be cleared. Then you can be taken for the full amount owed.

To pay these co's get their bank account details, a reference and make a faster payment to them. No way then they can get anything other than what YOU want to pay.
