please help 16 hours self-employed and 12 hours employed work

please help,at present I am on the dole but would like to change this to working 16 hours self-employed and 12 hours employed work, which one would working tax creidt class as my hours? we have an 8 month old son and I have been on the sick for about two years I also get dla low rate, cb and ctc. for the self-employment I can start designing again, but feel I need to work in the outside world also, and recieve money I can count on. my partner is self-employed but only gets a little money and not enough to pay the rent on the house we rent.
how can I sort this mess out and come away from the dole? without being completely broke I went to the dole office and did a better off calculation to become self-employed but at the time I had not seen the 12 hours a week job and also I would need to know about my son's father living with us as he lives in a rented room I just cannot figure out what is for the best. Could someone else who has been in this situation help please???

You would add together both hours and that would take you over 16 leaving you entitled to WTC go onto tax credit web site and see what you would be entitled to and if your partner was moving in you would have to include his income

they would take both incomes into account and if your partner moved in with you then they would include his income too as the assessment is made for the family unit.
you also have to bear in mind the possible impact on your dla, they could argue that being well enough to go back to work for 28 hours a week means your condition has improved.however there is disabled tax credit. this is just a word to the wise really.
