Puppy biting kitten

Hey all.
Well Logan is big and boisterous like all puppies. Behaviour is pretty good other than his obsession with Frankie the cat. He wants to chase him ALL the time, he is of course told not to but does he listen... no. Today he bit him
Not in a malicious way, a kind of puppy nip but it's put the cat back to square one ( he was starting to come round).
Any advice on sorting them out ? I had a dog and a cat as a child and they loved each other and slept together, groomed each other etc... just don't see these two ever getting on which breaks my heart

It's not easy. My shepherd thinks that the cat is a bit animated toy to chase, and only leaves her alone if she's up on something, despite instructions etc etc (ok shouting...) from me. She doesn't hurt her and the cat has a go back, but I never leave them in the same rooms together. I guess part of it depends on the dog and cat! Sid (spinone) is more bemused, but then he doesn't have much of a brain anyway. :rotfl:0

see that's the thing, he isn't hurting the cat but like you say, wouldn't leave him trapped, always make sure Frankie has an escape route.
Sometimes he 'brings on' the chase though which is more frustrating, he actually will taunt Logan to chase him.

Oh... I guess I am really lucky with Zara ane "her puppies" then....
Hmmmm
Hope you sort this out soon and can leave them together.
Zara is home with the 4 cats alone every day when I am at work, they normally cuddle up and snore happily in one corner or another..
But then Zara was a grown up and cats were babies when introduced so perhaps that changes things a bit...0 -
Hopefully you'll find they settle down as the pup grows - my girl is still v puppy-like, the kittens are months, sisters. She has been facinated with them since they arrived (after our poor old kitty girl went to Rainbow Bridge), chased them as soon as they moved, sniffs them with such enthusiasm she knocks them over AND wraps her mouth round them. She has calmed down more as she's got more used to them.
We have watched closely and told her 'leave' & 'gently' at times and they are now good friends - one kit in particular thinks she is her mum and she'll cuddle up to her for a snooze ocassionally.
Ultimately if they need to get away from her advances they can always sneak through the baby gate at the doors and pop upstairs!
Our yo boy dog doesn't pay the kittens much attention (nor they him) as he has always been used to us having cats ever since we got him at 8 weeks old
