Bravissimo bra not fitting

Hi
THis might be in the wrong place so feel free to move it if it would be better suited elsewhere. I just knew there had been posts on bra sizing hee previously.
I have a problem in that I went and got fitted at Bravissimo last weekend. The bra looked great and felt secure in the changing room and I bought that one and another. Came out 2 band sizes lower and 3 band sizes higher than I went in. 40E to 36H
Problem is that the next day wearing the bra it started really digging into my ribs and round the band. Cups stll look and felt secure but I couldn't wait to get home and get the bra off again. Next day tried the other bra and same thing.
I want t take them back but obviously have now waorn them and the price tags etc are cut off (though I do still have them).
Has anyone had this happen before, I thought that bravissimo were hailed as the best place to get measured if you were a larger chested lady??
To be honest I thought they might just ned breaking in but after a testing 4 hour wear last night it was still happening... to put it mildly my BF took a look at the marks left behind and said "OUUUCCHH that looks so sore"
A liitle disappointed, so any advice would be great as they were pretty expensive and I bought the matching pants due to my excitement (they are unworn and still have the tags on them).
Thanks in advance for any help/advice people may have.

Do you still have the receipt, suffer the pain and wear it in to them, when you take it off they will see the marks?1

I think they may have put you in a too small band size.
Sorry if the next bit is blunt!
Your probably carrying a bit of fat around where the strap goes if your a 36/40, so in store it would of been 'squashed in' but quite comfortable as it was a short amount of time (kinda like wearing a corset thats too tight, its fine for a short period of time but then gets uncomfortable!). And since your not moving around instore with it on you can't really get a good feel of the fit, moving around will make the band rub.
I would go back and getone band bigger and therefore one cup smaller (its the same cup volume that way)0 -
They're usually pretty good on returns or exchanges, or you could give them a ring. I know bras are supposed to fit tightly around the rib cage but if it hurts to wear it, that does sound like it's on the tighter side of acceptable..
I found when I last went in to get measured that one of the bras I tried on was very uncomfortably tight, but the fitter said to me "well, as a bra fitter I'd say it fits well..". I didn't go for that style, thinking there's no way I'd be able to wear this all day. I think Bravissimo do like them to fit tight around the rib-cage so that the support is coming from there rather than it pulling down on your shoulder straps, but it's money wasted if the bra's so uncomfortable you don't want to wear it!0 -
I had a similar problem a while ago after a fitting. I rang the store and explained that I had removed the labels and worn it. They told me to come in for another fitting and exchanged the bra for a better fitting one. They were very apologetic about selling me the wrong bra. So it might be worth giving them a ring. HTH.0

Hi, I bought one from bravissimo, in the morning it fitted by lunch time it really hurt. I went into bravissimo wearing the bra, just expecting i would have to buy another and lose the £30, however they were lovely and swapped the bra I was wearing with a nice new one!0

Also perhaps you may just not be used to wearing a tighter band? My band is 30 and it does leave a mark around the back but its the only one that stays snug, 32 just rides up my back and doesnt offer the same support
At any rate def go back into bravissimo, they suggested the size so if it isnt a good fit, they should exchange it!We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Have got their phone number now so going to ring them tomorrow morning.
SmallL nope you weren't too blunt I am a bit overweight so do have a bit of back fat.. plus quite a broad back anyway so prob doesn't help. Hopefully when the bra situation is sorted I can invest in a good sports bra and get back to some exercise without worying about the boobies bouncing out lol.
VikkiiKawaii there's no way I could get it on the tightest setting just about get it on the loosest setting! Think this might mean it's a band size up that is needed...
Will defintely wear it in if they say to though will have to keep movement to a minimum so that the underwire under my armpits doesn't stab too much and the corset affect doesn't cut off my circulation!
Will report back with what they say :-)Engaged 25/12/2013 :T

Hope you get it sorted.
To be honest, I too have found them to often measure too tightly on the band and was once told that the red marks were normal. But I found it too uncomfortable. But everywhere else I have been measured (i.e. the usual high st chains) seem to measure too big.
I don't get measured any more but do use Bravissimo's guidelines on what consitutes a good fit and generally end up with a supportive bra from doing that. I do have the problem of having a narrow rib cage but being quite flabby so - combined with a large bust - it is sometimes hard to find what is tight enough not too ride up with the weight of my boobs but loose enough not to dig in. I generally now am a 34G/GG at a clothes size (top and bottom) 16.0
