Item with Question Outstanding

When a buyer uses the ask the seller a question feature I get a notification that they have done so. When I reply the reminder disappears. So far, so good. However, nearly every time this happens I get a second message just to say Thanks. The system sees this as another unanswered question and keeps reminding me. The only way I've found to get rid of this is to reply with a you're welcome message. I have tried deleting their message but the reminder doesn't go away.

Anyone know how to delete a message and tell the system that the question has been answered?

A similar annoyance is the number of messages without response I keep seeing even though I'm not expecting replies as they were just courtesy messages.
