Basic Account....

I'm looking for a backup account. All I need it to do is be capable of sending and receiving funds electronically and able to set up Direct Debits. A debit card on this account is not essential. Any recommendations beyond Coventry's Money Manager? Thanks:j

Santander 123 would give cashback on your D/D's. Useful only if that exceeds the £2 monthly fee.
EDIT: can curently get £55 cashback from quidco for opening one
EDIT2: sorry, misinterpreted 'basic' as 'simple and straightfoward'. (And arguably 123 account is neither of those anyway !)0 -
Santander 123 is a Basic Account?0

no its notDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

What about a natwest basic account? Its a very basic account (replaced the step account).
it doesnt come with cheque book, OD etc. It does come with a debit card, but you dont need to use it i presume.
You can also set up DDs and OLB no problem.
Or how about a natwest e-savings account (if you dont mind it being an e-account)? It comes with nothing, but dont know if you can set up DDs..you can always have a look on the website to check.0 -
Most banks do basic accounts. The best ones are considered to be the Barclays cash account, or the co-op cashminder account. Natwest and Lloyds TSB offer basic accounts but have restrictions on their debit cards (can only withdraw cash from their own group atms)Debt free and staying that way! :beer:0
