Wireless Home Cinema??

I know what you mean about running the wires around the wall before painting, but for the rear speakers that will mean running them from the rear of the room to the TV around all door frames etc.. could look really untidy.
You could use flat speaker cable and run it under the carpet, unless of course you have wood flooring. If you have floorboards you could easily take a few up and run the cable under the floor. My rear speaker cables are tucked under the skirting boards, where there are doors I put it under the gripper things.0 -
I wouldnt bother with wireless unless you go mid to high end AV equipment.
Dont waste your money if you are thinking of buying for less than £5-600 as you certainly wont get anything that'll blow you away.

Yeah, I too have just tucked them under the skirting.
And rather than running them *around* the walls, if you haven't painted, it's pretty easy to run them *through* the walls...then you don't see them at all...
Just takes a couple of hours with a hammer and some pollyfilla before painting0 -
I've been down this route many times. Couldn't find decent speakers which didn't require power (will not do batteries), couldn't find equipment which didn't apparently pick up interference.
In the end I settled on a Logitech speaker system with wires, ran most of them through cornered trunking by the wall and door then painted it to match the room - you'd never notice. Have also run wires round the picture rail too (if you don't have one you could still put one up) and through the floorboards. Floorboards are a !!!!!!, but if you're sensible you can future-proof by running a small amount of conduit or a selection of wires through in one pass...
If you really want to re-do part of the room, consider trunked skirting boards. They're not that pricey, can be painted, and are easy to pull out and switch wires with.0
