Faulty item needs returning but was collected in person originally. Who pays?

Hi,
Sorry if this has already been asked, I did try my best to find out before posting!
Hopefully a quick answer: I bought an item from eBay (business seller) which turned out to be faulty. It's now past the eBay dispute time frame but knowing my rights under the Sales of Goods Act I have told him it needs to be repaired or refunded. He's agreed to this but says he won't pay the return postage as when originally purchased it was collected in person, so it should be returned the same way.
I am pretty sure that how it was collected is immaterial in a case where the item is faulty, but could someone please clarify this for me?
Thanks!

Your lucky to be getting what he's offered you-as to be honest you have no come back through ebay now as you are past the deadline. He could of just ignored you tbh
You might have DSA on your side but enforcing that would be the problem.0 -

If you collected the item, you will need to return it yourself.
Just as if you had purchased it from a shop in person - you wouldn't be posting it back to the shop and expecting them to pay for you to do so.0 -
