Hi, my son is looking for a decent laptop and i have found this
http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5755G_1175154.html
What do you think? He plays games and watches videos quite alot! I was hoping that we could find something cheaper, but for the specs it seems to me to be a good price. Is there much of a difference between i5 and i7 if there is a decent graphics card?

that will be fine for playing games and a nicely specced cheap laptop. the difference between the i5 and i7 was genrally the i7, a higher priced chip, is better for multi threaded applications and the i5 is a more general chip, many say better for everyday computing.
this is certain with desktops and i would assume with laptop processors to. the only thing is to watch for heat from i7 chips. read some reviews on tech site, google the model and review and read consumer reviews. looks a nice mahcine. but consider mocahines from Lenovo, asus and samsung to as they have great build quality. acer are good but many models are cheapily made.
if he games a lot, i'd consider a 17" full HD screen to. this machine is a good choice:

7670m slightly faster than GT630m.
If you have £500, AMD option would be samsung 355V5c.
i7 would be a lot faster than A10-4600m
If you don't want to spend that much £400 toshiba with i3 & GT630m or £440 Acer i5 with GT630m0 -
Hi,
I'm new to the site so I hope I'm doing this right?
My daughter came home from school with an offer letter for a refurbished laptop at £189.99 or a desktop at £149.99.
They we're both Lenovo (who I've never heard of before) and I wondered if there were any techy bods out there who could let me know if they were good value please?
I'm after a laptop for my daughter for Christmas which is down as the following:
Lenovo R61i Pentium dual cpu, 2ghz, 2gb Ram, 160gz HDD DVD RW, Windows 7, office 2007, Antivirus software.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to get back to me.:A0 -
R61 is thinkpad series, which are in good quality.
When you say it is refurb, are the like grade a product? Or are these used? Are they provide any warranty?
What is the model of the CPU?
It is not on the list from lenovo website
