Money goes in and out with no trace

Hey guys ,
Im with Lloyd's tsb , im having a very frustrating issue with my bank at the moment. Last night 80 pounds randomly showed up in my account , i checked the balance 3 or 4 times during the night to make sure it stayed there before touching it. Now i phoned a Advisor at around 8pm and she clearly stated on the call 80 pounds 86 was available.
Now having confirmed with the bank i waited the account out to see if anything would change past midnight , at around 12:20am the account changed to 22 pounds and only 6 pounds being available. Again no trace of where the 80 pounds has vanished to. So i called back and logged a compliant with the bank because money vanished in and out and me having already accounted for money spent on the account theres no way it could be a recent purchase. All purchases where above 80 pounds.
I was told by the bank , it could be a banking error and that balances where being shown to be incorrect and it might change past 2:30am. So i waited up till then. Still no sign of it.
I went to bed and contacted the bank again in the morning and got threw to a rude banker so i hung up and redialled for another banker. This time she seemed a little more able to listen and not to interrupt. She tried blagging me off with a ton of fancy dancy money talk , and i asked to speak to the manager and the maths wizz of all of Lloyd just happened to be on form today , he kept trying to quote my balances from 4 days ago and that he had to of been a shop i recently used my card in that had put the money back in.
This phone call went on for 45 minutes of me trying to get him to understand ive not made any recent purchases for 80 pounds , nothing would add to 80 pounds if a company had put it back in.
He then tried going back to his original story about it all adding up , after me not taking non of this rubbish , i asked him to listen to the phone call i made at 8pm confirming it was there. He kept avoiding that question like the plague he eventually gave in and checked the phone call. He then said i didn't check my balance with her and i know i did.
After the long long phonecall , he said he would give us 15 pounds as a good will gesture for the long phonecall , fair enough i said. Then he said hes going to find out whether or not it was tesco. 2 minutes later off hold. He claims it was. I asked for proof to be mailed to me. He said he couldn't provide me with proof.
As it stands. This is what it comes down to. In the last 4 days i have not made any payments of the amount of 80 pounds! Nothing in my account would suggest tescos had put the funds back in so i do not understand where hes getting his figures from , i checked my balance almost instantly after i had done my shopping and the money was removed. There is no proof from the bank that it was tescos and upon asking for such proof the banker said no
Where do i go from here?

Have you used a pay at pump at all lately?Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0 -
I don't drive , he mentioned that as well.0

Are you expecting £80? If not, it's likely a banking error where the funds were credited to the wrong account, and then reversed.0

If it was indeed a credit error and the wrong account was credited the surname/account number of the person who had sent the funds would be on my statement. I make payments to people all the time.0 -
sounds a bit dodgey. Why is money randomly appearing in your account? If this is the case, you did the correct thing in calling your bank straight away. Although you should have just acted as if this payment was never received. That way in a few months if noone had accounted for it and the bank did not contact you, you would be much safer.
Am I right in saying that you gained 80 pounds, but 60 went out, so you are still up 20 pounds??I'm so poor I can't even pay attention.

Its entirely possible for your "available balance" to indicate +£80, then change to another figure and eventually end up on your statement. Its the same as debits.
If its regularly happening then its a little strange.0 -
Not sure what the problem is. Transactions and statement balances are supposed to be right, but there are no particular rules about how the bank calculates your "available" balance. It's not an account and its ups and downs are not transactions and it's only ever an approximation. In fact it's so useless now that it's time they stopped displaying it.
Get a credit card and stop obsessing about your available balance 24/7."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -
Money goes in and out with no trace
Happens all the time, if it wasn't meant to be there what is the problem ?0 -

Not necessarily, if the bank picked up that they had credited your account in error then they can just reverse the transaction, whats the point of this anyway? Can't you keep track yourself of how much money you should have?0
