How long does tax credits take to update a change?

Hi Im wondering if anyone could offer me some advice please, I've tried phoning tax credits but their systems are down. I was on the phone for over an hour last night and didn't get through so I thought I'd have another try this morning but their updating their systems now!

I've been signed off from work with PND and I phoned tax credits last week to ask if I could change my payments from monthly to weekly. Which they said was fine. As cash flow is gonna be hard with me signed off work at the moment and not getting any sick pay.

I was just wondering how long it will take for me to start receiving my tax credits weekly? Does it happen immediately or does it take a while?

it does not take long but its also not immediate. maybe a week or so for the change to be applied. HTH

They can't tell me how much I'll be getting as they can only give general advice till Monday...

To work out how much id roughly get a week would I divide the amended award letter I was sent on the 5th of last month which had on it how much tax credits had left to pay me by how many weeks there are from now till April ?

Pretty much. Although it wont be an exact figure, it should provide a rough estimate for you. you will (or should) get 1/4 of ur normal payment each week seeing as you were previosuly getting them 4 weekly. HTH
