My cat is gagging for no apparent reason

  • My vet told me it's not a good idea to scoosh liquid paraffin into the mouth. It seems it can get into the airways and this isn't good. Maybe a more palatable malt remedy would be better?
  • Oh gosh, I didn't know loving a cat is so hard.

The video thing is a great idea. I might do that to show the vet. She strains her neck too so I do still wonder about the fur ball though. 2 days of paraffin has yielded nothing and she still got the effects.

fletch, if you're vets is open on a Saturday, ring and just ring and ask for advice before they close. They really wont mind- they'll think you are sensible for ringing before they close for the weekend. (vets always obviously cover weekends, but its nicer for them if people try to sort things out in opening hours if at all possible- but dont let that ever put you off calling an emergency vet)

juliebunny, the vets ordered an inhaler for a very sick cat we had in, and also a little cat mask that fits the human inhaler to may it easier to use.

Thanks! Sadly I lost my first cat who had asthma :A(nothing to do with that, it was her heart) :(- didn't want to write that in case it scared the OP....thanks though....thankfully my feral hasn't' had an attack for ages (touch wood.) I guess she's less stressed now she's been here for a while and I've tried to remove the triggers from her environment.

    Loving a cat is wonderful...:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o

Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!
