Damaged Postage Stamps

Hi Folks,
Not sure what I can do about this ..Hopefully someone can help.
Recently I purchased 100 x second class stamps at a cost of £50. I then managed to put them through the wash and damage them. I initially thought that I could easily get these changed at the local post office as I had proof of purchase and had purchased £50 worth of delivery services..right?? Wrong.. Apparently I cannot get them replaced and the Post office or Ropyal mail or whoever simply keeps my money although I cannot now avail of the service which I have paid for.
Just to clarify , I dont blame anyone but myself for putting these stamps in the wash.. However, surely the stamp is just a voucher to prove that I have paid for the delivery service. The stamp isnt a product in itself buit simply a proof that I have purchased a service. Hence why not just give me a replacement set of stamps even it it cost a basic fee to cover the production of the stamps
Has anyone else had a similar problem??:(

You purchased stamps, you damaged the stamps, you're entitled to nothing. It's only the same as purchasing say a mobile phone, putting that in the wash then expecting the company you purchased it from to replace it.0

Have you asked Royal Mail directly or just the post office.0

It is nothing like that at all.
I think the OP might have an argument similar to if you damage a £20 note you can get it replaced.
I once found a wallet on the beach which had been there for years with 10 x £20 notes all were very moth eaten and bar 3 were considered in good enough condition to have them replaced.0 -
Would somebody be able to see that there are £50 worth of stamp there or are they just a pulp.
If it cant be valued then there is no way of knowing if you have already used a lot of them.I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0 -
In theory I see your point, but can you prove without doubt you have 100 stamps there, unused?
If they can't be identified I'm on their side, how do they know you've not used half and then put the rest in the wash to claim 100 back?0
