.....the bits at the front that heat up?
Heater is similar to this one. One of the *things* at the front doesn't light (only 2 out of the 3 actually work) so it needs looked at but I have no idea what to call it when I phone someone about it.

I assume this wont be just a simple thing I could sort myself?

Just say you want one of 'those things on the front that glows red' and they'll know what you mean.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Everyone calls them different things.
I know them as radiants. Some call the chalk radiants even though they are not made from chalk.
Never heard of plaques though. Plaques as I know of , are part of the burner on some gas fires, not the actual radiant tablet itself.
But hey ho ' you say potato, i say potarto ! ....'0 -
If one isn't "lighting up" I'd have thought the problem was likely to be with the burner/ blocked jets or something.
I'd remove the 3 plaques / radiants and have a look at the burner, check the jets are clear.0 -
Chances are you won't find anything who would look at it, they would just tell you to buy a new one.
Buy a can of compressed air and use it to clean the heater.0 -
Only 'gas safe' engineers are officially allowed to service lpg heaters. If you have any problems - carbon monixide, explosions etc. your insurer will not do a thing.
Take to a proper service centre and be safe.0
