Thursday 11th Octoer OS Daily - Thurs 11th October 2012 Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 11th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning nmlc and all who follow,
How did your sisters operation go?
Hugs to Molly and Hilstep.
Hopefully a quieter day at work today. We are having ALL our marking checked by the head and deputies today. It is 3 years since OFSTED last came and they are expected any time soon.
Tea tonight is HM chilli and hopefully I will have time for a cup of tea with my friend.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning everyone
Bit of an early wake up for me this morning, DH not got to go to work stupid early, just early, and in the process has woken me up, so I decided to get up as it makes me feel really rubbish all day if I go back to a deep sleep, it gives me a bad head all day.
Dsis had her op yesterday and at 5.45pm she was sat in bed having a drink, so relief doesn't come close to how I feel, had a really bad feeling that it either was going to get cancelled again or something was going to go wrong.
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Still dark here this morning but ground looks dry underfoot so no rain overnight, although rain is forecast later. DH up and now off to work.
Dinner last night was delicious beef stew and dumplings, mash, carrots, broccolli and peas - was really pleased with the meat, it was really tender and I'd managed to get the gravy just right - so clean plates all round. Tonight I'm not sure, but as DH and myself are going away tomorrow, I'm doing all tomorrows jobs today so will visit the SM and get something for tonight then. Will be a bit pushed to get everything done but will do my best, not going to lose any sleep over it though, as the weather has been good this week, have managed to get 2 lines of washing dry on the line on Mon and Tues so majority of the washing is up to date, another load has washed overnight and is ready for the line this morning, and once I put that out I'll put anything else in.
Friend and her son came over after school yesterday as she is helping me out with bringing Ds2 home with his broken toe as he can't ride his bike at the moment, things for her have been dire for quite some time and it now seems they are getting worse, SHTF springs to mind, it's really difficult, as we're really good friends with her and her hubby and don't want to take sides etc, but I can see the situation from both sides - feel sad as she has been a brilliant friend to me and will always help anyone out, will just try to be as supportive as I can and be the shoulder should she need one, will have coffee and cake ready too.
I need to do the normal household chores and pack for us and the boys as they are going to MIL/FIL's, would like to try to get some baking/cooking done too, will see how I go.
Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Morning all
BB, I hope Maud is getting better.
Moorhen, we did that last week at work.
Hugs to Molly.
Staff are still dropping like flies, we had 3 go home sick yesterday with a vomiting bug. I got involved in an almighty bundle yesterday & I'm still feeling shaken by it. No injuries caused but it's very scary to be mobbed.
WM is on, DW finished, hubby has a cuppa, fish fed.
Time I got a wiggle on.
Have a good day.
Hugs Hester

Morning all,
Really dark here this morning, cant see what the weather is doing, but its cold too.
Off to work today, need to drop dd and the dog of first, thanks for all the 'well dones' for dd, its so hard for youngsters to get a job atm, good luck to all others trying.
Dinner tonight is sausgae chips and beans, the shop up the road had beans 4 for £1, so stocked up on a few, nice branded ones too.
Need to do a wash tonight, will go on the airer, also got Tesco delivering.
Have good days all xx0 -
....DH has built a new shed , the old one has just about disintegrated , so now we can burn that one ....
Just a word from one who has done this - keep well clear, as whatever treatments have been painted onto the old shed over the years will help it burn in a possibly quite spectacular way
Am off to have my b00bs squished today (mammogram time), but having lunch with a friend and am going to an exhibition too, so that makes it a nicer use of a day's leave!
Hugs to all who would like one,
Floss0 -
Morning all. t
Lou any news? Jaq??
Good luck with ofsted:eek:
Nmlc hope ds and your friend are okay, im sure she appreciates someone being there
I've found a place in a guardianship:j needs a good clean and a lick of cheaply paint - oh and a bed! But all that will cost less than I save in a month compared to conventional rent and will be a nice home fo at least the next six months. I will miss home and probably go home a fair bit but im so looking forward to having time for os and no more 15 hour days.
My painted bags are starting to sell on ebay and family have ordered some fore Xmas prezzies whoop! Mine and my sisters soapy experiments went well so there will be some nice handmade lush knock offs and fancy soaps in hampers this year.
Have a good day all and get that baby out!!!Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -

Hester where do you work? Borstal?:eek: hope you're ok xxx
Morning.:)
Terrible sleep courtesy of KC who lost a mouse (live) behind fridge which we duly emptied so we could tip it up and then she lost behind WM  finally had to leave her waiting until this Morning when i discovered it was still alive and still being pursued. the poor wee thing was clearly tired after hours of being chased as I managed to catch it. Here's hoping shock and exhaustion don't finish him off
Makeshift for tea. More decorating going on, sanding down etc. not much else. Offloading some bits to a friend this morning so will have coffee and a catch up too
Hugs and spoons all round xx
PS LOU is progressing, contractions are about 7 mins apart this morning. That could mean she's still got all day to go but fingers crossed Buttons arrives sooner rather than later :jI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Hester - stay safe x
Feeling brighter today and had some good news as my blood has improved a tad. So thank you Floss and everyone else who gave me some recipes for soup etc. I have splurged on a soup maker as it is hard work getting soups made and I am getting a bit bored so fancied a bit of variety.
Lou - thinking of you xx
NMLC - glad sister is doing well xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0
