Hi
I currently have a SKY (sagem) g wireless router. However my signal upstairs is very low. I also have a spare Linksys wag54gs wireless router and would like to set this up as a wireless repeater to increase signal upstairs. Could someone provide me with clear guidance on this please.
Thanks in advance

Call Sky and ask them for the newer 'N' router, i had problems with the Sagem but the N router is loads better.
I think you need another phone socket to use another router.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -

You can ONLY have 1 modem plugged into the telephone line, plug another in and nothing will work.0 -

There are confusing posts on this thread because typical SOHO wireless routers are actually four devices in one, a modem, a router, a network switch and a wireless access point.
The OP's Sky box does all of the those but wants to add the Linksys purely as a wireless range extender/repeater - the modem part of the Linksys woud be redundant in this configuration.
@OP - This may give you an idea of what you need to do.604!0 -
how would you get the signal upstairs to the other router? if you are able to get a cable up there may be possible.. If you intend to use the wireless side then you have the same restrictions (e.g. Wireless bridge).
Is the spare just a wireless router or full modem router?? if its a cable type router then usually just plug ethernet to the wan port (or port1) ensure that the slave router has dhcp disabled (leave that to your main router) and much should just work as it is..
I flashed an old linksys router with Tomato firmware and that works fine as a forwarder (either with the same SSID Information for wireless or its own identity) - allowing home media to use one router for sharing to appletv \ raspberry pi media systems etc , and games consoles to have there own 'main router' for using internet without as much lag.0 -

The Linksys router is a spare wireless modem router and will be placed in the hallway of upstairs where it can pick up the weak signal of the Sky wireless router downstairs. It will then in effect allow the pest of the magnify the signal to the rest of the rooms upstairs.
Toxteth thank you for your link."I think I spent 72.75% of my life last year in the office. I need a new job!!"0
