HELP! How do I pay this back?

Please someone help me, I feel terrible. I'm a bit of an ebay noob so I hope this all makes sense.
I purchased what is (to me) a fairly expensive item back in August. I couldn't get hold of the seller, and the item didn't arrive so on 31 August I filed for item not recieved. The item subsequently turned up but I couldn't find how to close the case. I sent ebay an email telling them it had turned up, then someone who said they were from ebay phoned me. I told them I would discuss the case but was reluctant to give them all my personal details on the phone in case it wasn't actually them and the guy said straight away fine, we will email you instead.
Sure enough they emailed me, saying that if I wished to go ahead with my claim to escalate it and how to do that. I admit it did explain how to close the case as well, but as it also stated that if they didn't hear from me they would close the case automatically I didn't bother. And the item was sent recorded so I assumed the seller had sent on the tracking number. But today I have had an email from ebay saying the seller has refunded me.
This is obviously not my money. But I don't know the best way to give it back - if I just send it back to their paypal do I leave myself open for anything? I am a little worried there might be something dodgy going on, and I don't know what kind of payment to say it is when I go through paypal.
Please could someone help with how to do it? I really want to sort this out as soon as I can.

Ask the seller to send you an invoice for it.0

You are doing the honourable thing by returning the money and the seller will appreciate your honesty. I’m sure the seller would send an invoice as mentioned or you could “Send Money” through Paypal for the purchase of Goods, and add a message of the item number and description.0

Thank you for your help, all sorted
I sent money 'for purchase of goods' and emailed to let them know what happened, they emailed straight back and all is well once again! 0
