Sky Tv - Trial Scams

Anyone else suffered at the hands of Sky TV? They lure you into an introductory trial period and then sneak another month's direct debit off you? I'm in dispute with them over an extra month they are arguing I must pay them. I've dug my heels in but they are threatening legal action. Should I back down??:

Sky have been doing this for what must be the last 15-years, right back to the days of the old analogue Astra satellite when they took over BSB in the early 90's.
Sign up for 12-months, can't cancel until the 12-months are up. 13-months.
