advise about section 75

hello,
I have just read martins email and am interested in the section 75 and wonder if i could use this to gain some of my money back.

I brought a car for £2100 with a full MOT and service, i paid for it using my visa debit. Approx 2 months later the car broke down needing a new battery and alternator. I contacted the garage and told them the problem to which they refused to colect the car and repair. This went on for months with me taking advise from consumer direct and writting many letters. In the end i had no choice but to pay for the repairs as i needed my car for work. Whilst it was in the garage the owner noticed that the brakes where poor, and upon checking it was found that the rear callipers were seized up and were in such a rusty condition he deemed them dangerous and was surprised i had not had a accident. The whole bill came to approx £800, and i paid for this with my visa cc.
I informed the garage about all the repairs and that i was going to take them to a claims court.
I then recieved a telephone call from trading standard asking about my complaint and had it been resolved. The gentleman stated that he had a meeting with the company (i presume i was not the only complaint) and would tLk about my case, although he could ot promise that this would change anything. A couple of days later i received a call from the garage who stated that they are dealing with my complaint and not to procced with the court case! After 2aeeks of hearing nothing i tried to contact them only to find that they had gone bankrupt. All telephones had been disconected and their website had been shut down. To cap it all off a few month after the car broke down again only to be found that the cambelt had snapped. It would cost £3000 to check and repair the engine!!! I am now just about to scrap the car as i cant afford to repair it and it is not worth it

I know martin said that section 75 does not cover visa debit cards but could i attempt to claim back the money i had paid for the repair?
Im still paying off this debt on my cc card and to be honest had just put this down to a bad experience/luck, just bit the bullet and pay the bill then try and forget the whole thing lol.
I would be most grateful if anyone could give me some advise, even if its just to say bad luck
Thanks for reading and sorry it went on a bit :D

Is there something wrong with the quality of the £800 repairs paid for on credit card?

    Talk to your card provider.

But I don't think you have any chance. Any comeback would only be on the repairs the £800 covered....

3K for a cambelt failure.... I guees this is main dealer prices.

TBH. When the co called you, you should not have stopped proceding. Just told them well you have till it gets to court to resolve the issue.
