Savings or investment?

Hi all,
I have about £2000 in savings at the moment and I would like the best growth for it as am thinking of getting married next year. From reading the forums, I gather the best online instant access savings is A & L at 5.35%.

I was just wondering if it would be wise to invest in some funds and if anyone could recommend any that may be worth it for just one year.

Thanks in advance!

If your saving the money for your wedding maybe not a risky fund!!

What about an isa? (first Direct)

or a one year fixed rate bond? (capital one and many others)

    try https://www.moneysupermarket.com

    Hope that helps.

Not worth risking £2,000 by investing in funds for one year. Even if they performed well, any set-up and sales costs may wel offset that!

If I had £2000 and was getting married next year I'd spend it like crazy and enjoy myself - nice caribbean holiday me thinks ;-)

£2k in ONE fund (Investment Trust) would obviously carry risk, i.e. depends on the markets and one year volaitlity is rather high

At the start of the year I invested in 3 funds, all up on the year to varying degrees - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=20378&highlight=investment+trust

    They were -

    ABDN.NEW THAI ORD 25P ANW +8.3%

    BR.EMPIRE SEC. ORD 10P BTEM +8.2%

JPMOR INDIAN ORD 25P JII +4.2%

Another one which I have had money in for quite a while is the BARING EMERGING European - Now this is very volatile though with an upward trend- But probably one you should avoid given the risk.

I would put the money in a cash ISA. Nice and safe and a good return.
