Do you enter your mobile number?

Hi, i don't know about anyone else but i have this 'thing' about giving my mobile number out to companies etc. A lot of competitions require a mobile number & if you leave the box empty you can't enter. This is really annoying, if you've given them you're email address then why do they need a mobile number too?!
I've started just entering '00000000000' in the box, if i won would they still email me to tell me? Last week i entered an iPad comp & did actually give them my number and within the hour i had someone calling me about insurance! I was just wondering what everybody else does?

Have you consideredbuying a cheap PAYG mobile just for comping and using this number? You needn't bother to answer it if you don't want to. Any reputable company telling you that you had won would leave a voicemail message.
I don't get many spammy calls, but I always try and look out for tick boxes saying I don't want marketing.0 -
I used to put the rows of zeros in if I had to enter anything but now some of them have got wise to that and are saying invalid number so I've got an old mobile I use occasionally for work and I've started putting that number in instead.
Although having said that I've never had any texts or calls as I'm pretty careful about ticking all the unsubscribe boxes. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I always put 000000000,because of that reason, getting bombarded with phone calls.0

i think if your careful with tick boxes and read the terms then you should be ok, i only use my mobile number never my house phone and have hardly had any calls at all in over two years solid comping, mind you ive never had a WTC either lol! (hope ive not just jinxed myself now!) any that you are`nt sure about entering i would just miss out as they will be the ones that catch you out. good luck!Comping Life- wake up in morning, get excited about postie comin, bit more excited as u check emails 1st time, get deflated NO wems!,get more deflated as postie brings junk, enter comps,go to work, wonder if delivery vans brought a surprise!,come home nope no surprises!,check again for wems nope still disappointed!,enter more comps, time for bed,REPEAT!0

I think if you're careful it's not that big an issue. I only ever give my mobile number as very very few people have my landline number. I've been comping from May and have never had a sales call. I always tick the no contact boxes where available.2018 wins: Aspinal of London jewellery box, Boudavida gym outfit, HP Pavilion laptop, The List party tickets, All Points East festival tickets, Kiehls moisturiser, By Terry cc serum, Nars Liquid Bronzer, Benefit highlighter, Nars illuminator, Fresh advanced lip trio set, Cetaphil sample set, signed copy of My Absolute Darling by Gabriel Tallent0

hi, i enter a lot of text comps & also add my comping moby number when entering online/email comps, have done for years, if you use a spare moby just for comping that way you'll know the calls you receive will be just mainly from comp sites &/or comp sites trying to sell you subs/insurance etc, when/if they call me i just tell them i'm not interested or just switch them offsometimes you do need to enter your moby number in case of a win :j i've had quite a few WTC's especially from the radio comps ie: gem106 for an example who do usually phone if you're a winner
there's a list here that shows quite a few sites that phone you if you've won..
Sticky: How you are informed of wins..(1 2 3 ... Last Page)

If phone number is a "required field" I wouldn't bother expecting any winning e-mails if you put in a number like that, even if you "accidently" put a slightly wrong number in you might still get nothing.
The chances of winning are usually small and putting in a fake number can only reduce your chances even further.
I put my correct number but if the site is one I think will produce unwanted calls I just don't enter (energy, double glazing, postcode lottery etc.) and in nearly 3 years no spam calls.0 -
I put my mobile number in when it specifically asks for a mobile number. Otherwise I use my home number and we haven't had a problem with sales calls from comping.
And I actually received my one and only winning call on my mobile which was
Takeaway and Drinks (alcoholic) for 10 people, 1 x Samsung 40” 3D LED TV, 1 x Samsung 3D Blu-ray player, 1 x Wii Console, 1 x Wii Dance Party: Pop Hits game,and 1 x Wii Sing / 2 x Microphones.
I'm really glad I didn't miss that call!0 -
I only give my mobile number if it's mandatory - I currenlty have ony had one or two texts as a result of comping & one of those is from styleitlite advising when they have a new comp - I would rather they called my mobile rather than my home phone thoughproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0
