Barclaycard application -is this normal?

in Credit cards
Hi, sorry if this has been asked, did try searching but nothing really came up.
Last week I made an online application for barclaycards 0% balance transfer for 23 months card (I've got a credit card coming out of promo rate).
Said my application had been successful. Then got a call from Barclays asking to confirm some details through multiple choice answers to the end of which the operator said my application was successful and that I should get my card in 5days or so.
Today I have received a letter asking for a copy of a bill in my name,2 payslips and a copy of my bank statement. This amount of info has set alarm bells ringing and I am not sending that much information.
Is this the normal process for barclaycards? I've never had problems or this much hassle with other credit cards.
Thanks in advance!

Just got a new barclaycard two or so weeks ago, and did it all online and never spoke to anyone, and received the card about 5 days later.
Not sure if my experience is normal, but didnt have to do anything that you had to do0 -
sounds like an account closure coming your wayDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

You're not really giving them much more information than you've already given them on your initial application. Wage slips prove your annual income, the bank statement shows the salary in question is getting paid into an account belonging to you. Better to give them what they have asked for than start over and lose one life (credit searches) - particularly for that card as it's the best 0% BT at the moment. Could just be a random check - maybe linked to AML regs0

Does seem odd to me but i am not comfortable with sending that amount of info through the post where it could easily end up in the wrong hands (yes, I know that sounds over cautious) but they can easily check my credit files, work etc, all info i provided during the original application.
I have a good credit history and the amount I wanted to transfer isn't huge so have gone elsewhere. Was a shame as it does have such a long period. I guess I just wouldn't have expected it from Barclays

Sounds like Barclays are just complying with the law regarding random checks.
You've made your choice and gone elsewhere, not the end of the world really.0 -

Exactly, not the end of the world
I guess since I've never had this before on any of my credit cards (I am a bit of a tart:p) it seems out of the norm for me. There's so much about fraud and ID theft, it's made me suspicious when lots of personal information is requested, not that I'm cynical or anything!
