Wouldn't tell ya to chevalburger off
I posted up because I felt yup too much fruit myself.
Re: the carbs, in my (biased) opinion I'd say yes too, but other than bread and cereal at weekend OH doesn't eat processed carbs at home and lower carb veggies are prioritised. He gets the protein when e comes home.
OH believes in MBWA (Management By Walking About) and his team of 21 is spread over 192,000 sq ft of buildings on a 53 acre site. So he seems to get away with carbs during the day - has a 32" waist.
The grapes will get stuffed in meetings, mostly by other people.
The kitchen on his floor has commercial cooker, microwave, toaster, fridge, freezer plus utensils, knives etc and is cleaned every day (washing up included) by the cleaner. No qualms about the fridge and freezer as being commercial they have temperature display on the front and get defrosted and cleaned.
Having spent years on tools eating packed lunches in his van, now that he's done postgrad and is a manager, he wouldn't ever go back to them.
He will cook stuff if it can go on hob or in the microwave. When he stays there (he did during Olympics) then he will get cooking as there is a big Sainsbury's nearby. On a daily basis it has to be quick.
Edited to Add.. he has a bowl of organic mixed nuts with nutcrackers plus monkey nuts on his desk.0 -

Preaching to the converted alert ...
If possible he'd be better spreading the protein, carbs and fat through the day, body can't store spare amino acids so does best when supplied little and often. It is needed to repair and maintain every cell in the body plus hormones etc. IMO protein early in the day is important, after the nights 'fast'.
Plus protein, fat and bulking fibre will help slow digestion, stabilise the blood sugar, keep him feeling satiated. I wonder if he's eating so much fruit and yoghurt because the sugar and higher GI carbs have his blood sugar all over the place? Nuts and seeds are great if he eats enough to get a proper hit of fat and protein.
Most recommendations worldwide are for two to three servings of fruit a day (max, if you are having the full nine a day, which you guys may well be). Serving sizes vary but UK it's just 80g so many whole fruits are one and a half to two servings. If he doesn't want cold salad could he perhaps take more veggie soup? Or switch to lower sugar fruits (not sure if you can source organic berries, rhubarb or grapefruit tho) given he is having some of the highest sugar produce available?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
hehe.. I posted his lunch haul up because I felt it was out of balance. I have to take some of the blame as I had already gotten him grapes, apples and yogurts (special offers) and then I gave into his whinge for a Riverford fruit bag (he likes them).
At the moment he's transitioning from porridge (winter mode) to yogurt OR cottage cheese with fresh fruit (summer mode). I've suggested he share the fruit and I did a quick order with Ocado yesterday (just turned up) that gets him wild pheasant stew and organic ham. Found him some organic smoked salmon in the freezer and additive free prosciutto di Parma. He won't eat all of it this week.
The fresh fruit is added to stop him wanting to glug orange juice all the time. He's had a GTT done cos I was concerned (his mother has diabetes) and he's fine. Fruit instead of juice so then he gets fibre !0 -
I've made my irst order with a local organic company I've found, inc. a veg box to be delivered later on in the week. I'm far too excited about it!0

How long before additives are quietly snuck into Innocent juices by Coca-Cola ?
Beckyy I don't blame you for being excited I would be too.

http://www.standard.co.uk/comment/comment/amol-rajan-fairtrade-local-organic--the-myth-of-ethical-food-8509756.html?origin=internalSearchStudy after study shows there are no health benefits to organic food. As for the planet, it’s basic science really.
Organic food depends on compost, manure and crop rotation instead of fertiliser. As such, it is less intensive, with much lower crop yields.
That is just cheap journalism and utter rubbish - what axe does the writer have to grind I wonder?0 -
Channel 5 now at 10pm "Horsemeat and other food shockers". It also explores the dangers of organic chicken. I can't imagine what these could be but will be watching the programme with interest.
EDIT - nothing any of us didn't know already. Cook your chicken properly, don't buy too much processed food, buy veggies whole and wash them yourself, be clean in the kitchen. Meh.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

Did the GP agree to the test ok? After my refusal on a cholesterol test request I'm wondering whether to ask for a diabetes test or whether they will refuse that too... now got 3 members of family with/had it, grandparent, parent, sibling...From the Evening Standard tonight, comment piece by Amol Rajan

^ He comes across as a bit of a !!!!!! in that article...
Not sure if this has been posted, haven't read much on here today:

Got some more organic oil from M&S - this time is smaller container, 100ml of Truffle &Olive oil, same french artisan makers/collective, 14,50 euro on french website - £0.80 at M&S
Way too strong for my taste buds, need to see what fresh pasta recipe I can use it for, or maybe wild mushroom risotto - problem is that nobody in my house likes risotto, but me.
Wish I had bought more of the previous one as it is really nice and struggling to think where to use this latest acquisition0 -
Quasar, will have a look at this tomorrow thanks. I watched the C4 Dispatches and BBC Panorama programmes today and it's all sensationalism and very few facts. Same talking heads going blah blah blah.
IMO I feel that the ministers are always looking out for farmers and food businesses first and that food safety and agriculture should be separated so that someone does look out for consumers.
You saw shots of blokes hacking at carcasses with knives. We weren't told whether the gloves used to handle the carcasses were disposable, or ever sterilised. Do the knives get cleaned between carcasses or are they too just collecting and spreading bacteria ? Was that even recent footage ?
Contrast that with catering kitchens where you have colour coded knives and chopping boards. Some kitchens don't just wash knives clean they put them in knife cabinets which irradiate them,
The journo commenting in the Evening Standard was just trying to provoke a response IMO smallblueplanet. No actual research used to back up his claims because he's only regurgitating similar stuff by other journos.
Kirri, he has very good occupational health dept at work which he can get stuff done through. You should be able to get free tests for diabetes and cholesterol at the majority of pharmacies now.
Hadn't seen the German egg article, that may affect a lot of people as more Germans eat organic.
blueyellowed yup truffle is an accquired taste and I must admit neither OH or I have it either. Only thing I can suggest is diluting it by mixing in more olive oil. It's such a strong taste though that it might not work.0
