Quite right too. If you need Emergency Cash you should have to phone up for it and confirm some account security first.0

I used it once, to see what it was all about.
I sent my code by text to my mate, so he could withdraw £100.
For those who don't know, it requires logging onto the app, going to the relevant section and selecting the amount you wish, £100 is the maximum. Then you are given a code and some instructions.
The code is valid for 3 hours at any RBS, Natwest, Tesco machine.
You go to a machine, push enter, select emergency cash, enter the code, enter the amount and it gives you your money.
TBH, everything is now open to fraud and I don't see this is any more unsafe than internet banking, telephone banking, contactless cards or even chip and pin...if people have other peoples details, then it is possible.
Everyone should check their finances regularly at least a few times a week, no excuse. If you don't then you simply are asking for trouble.0 -

I've lost my wallet and I'm stranded away from home. So *exactly* which "account security" would you request? DOB? Mothers maiden name? Home address? Email address? Perhaps you mean "online security"? Customer Number? Well that's mainly DOB and is not obfuscated on a sign-on so, hey, somebody shoulder-surfed me.
2 digits from my security number and 2 digits from my memorable word. Reasonable unless the system shows they have been changed in the last day or two. Last withdrawal amount? £10, I guess. How many other cards on the account? That seems a particularly weak question (but Halifax rely on it).
I'm not intending to point the finger at an inside job, but I do think its time that (somehow) confidence can be restored that data needed to claim Emergency Cash (or GetCash) or reset security isn't "leaking".
An RBS statement notification arrived a couple of days ago. I immediately noticed it was HTML, the previous notification emails being text. The HTML notification included hyperlinks to the RBS website.
Surely a security "duh".0 -
Just remember to say no when they offer to scan your retina and finger prints. They tried them in other parts of the world, and people started losing body parts.0

Haven't used this function, but seemed like a helpful option. Shouldn't they have limited how much you can withdraw through this function to say £20?
I don't see it any riskier to contactless payments, in fact it is probably safer, as it asks you for a code at least!!0 -
If I was the Russian !!!!!, I would pay for the PayTags that Barclaycard is handing out. The RFID is a dead giveaway.
The thief just has to carry a small scanner, and steal any easy target that comes along.0 -
I have tried this feature and felt it was fairly safe. At least on par with mobile banking.
After reading some of the complaints from people (not just here, in other forums too) it felt like because of some people who cant handle anything securely, most others have to be put up with same old methods.I am neither a bull nor a bear. I am a FTB, looking for a HOME, not a financial investment!0 -
I hope they sort it soon, it was very useful.0
