Made redundant with no notice and now company in liquidation

Hi
Someone, please give me some advice regarding my situation. I had been employed with the company for 4 years and 3 months from the age of 23, I'm now 27.

Basically I was made redundant at the end of July (everyone apart from 3 staff members) each one of us with no notice. The Director held a meeting on the Thursday evening and Friday we all had to collect out things and leave. We received a letter stating that there will be a meeting taking place in 45 day to confirm if the company will be going into a CVA. Well the 45 days passed, I heard nothing. So I rang the contact number on the letter which was for the creditors company.

The lady told me that the meeting had not taken place and I would have to wait a while. 65 day passed and still nothing from anyone, so again I rang the creditors and again she told me the same old thing. So I then tried to contact the company secretary, and she told me that 100% of my redundancy was put through and I would recieve everything I'm owed. So that being is my one months notice and 4 weeks worth of pay. She confirmed I would get this but no idea when?!

A few weeks after this conversation I heard from someone still employed that the company had gone into liquidation and everything was being seized the following day. I thought I would contact the creditors to see if they had any information regarding this situation and she told me that it was out of their hands now and over to the liquidators. It was going to court on the 8th October and I should heard something then.

I'm just a bit concerned as I didn't have any information given to me from anyone before this last conversation it was me who was having to make the calls, but now I have no idea who to contact and speak too. I have tried to call and text the secretary and also the director but no one has got back to me.

It is now 83 days since I was made redundant, so this is beginning to grate on me a little now. I have only just this week managed to get a job dispite applying for various jobs. It's so hard to find work at the moment, so with the added stress of this hanging over me, it has seemed much harder than ever.

If anyone has got any advice on this I would really appreciate it.

Many thanks

  • OK sorry to hear of your situation. you need to find out who the liquidator is. Take a look at the London Gazette. you can find them on the internet. You will then need to contact them and they should be able to help you. You will need an RP1 form to claim compensation upto £430 pw of arrears of pay and lieu of notice.

Did you/are you claiming contribution-based Job Seekers' Allowance?

Have you sought legal advice re employment law / insolvency?
Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.
