    How were they conned? I fail to see what the issue is.

    There is no protection in contracts or consumer rights for someone paying over the odds for something.

    The OP's wife offered to buy something for £180, the person selling it agreed the price. Done deal.

    According to the OP the laptop was misrepresented. ie they were lied to.

    I would feel conned if I was sold something and it was not as advertised.
    I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.

    But yet another thread that is devoid of the pertenet info, and has ended up with people putting accross differing views when there is not enough info to provide a reply.

    What I never get is why people pay such high proces for 2nd hand when you can get fully protected new for only a bit more....

    hi
    i set up a new facebook page so i could follow the seller and i was able to find another person who bought a laptop of him i even got his phone number he was shocked when i phoned him it turned outall the softwere was ilgal after 10 mins he agreed to a full refund and the cash was in my wifes bank account within 10 mins
