HL Vantage/IP fund

Is the HL advantage execution service any good? Any pitfalls?

I simply want to buy a Invesco Perpetual fund and save the upfront fee.

Do you actually get a certificate and communications direct from IP once set up or can you only see this via HL as nominee?

The fund has both a trail and no trail subfunds? Presumably if I go down the HL route that will dictate the trail fund. Is there any one that would allow the non trail fund with a "cheap" fee instead.

The yield between the two subfunds is practically the same?

Any other suggestions?

Yes. There are unbundled providers which may be more suitable depending on your investment amount.

Its the same fund. As will be the clean fund when that becomes available. Its just the charges that are changing.

It's not called advantage, just vantage ;)

But yes you will have to buy the trail class until HL released their unbundled platform.

For the unbundled, non trail one, there aren't that many cheap ones but it does depend on how much you are buying. £1k's worth, go with HL. £100k, may well be cheaper elsewhere.

HL will also send you god awful amounts of marketing, so opt out of that.

The amount coming from trail and non trail will either come out of capital or income, or a mixture of both, so that will determine the difference in return.

Or go to Cavendish Online and you'll get the full trail charge refunded each month when HL only rebate part of the trail.

Can you expand on the clean fund and when that is likely to be available?

Thanks guys that certainly appears to show Cavendish as the cheapest at present for what I want.

I currently have a historic "investment" from an old direct provider and which is being merged with another provider, with the old fund dropping away. In the process the AMC is increasing by 0.55%

Clean funds remove the bundled costs of retail and supply. Those will be added explicitly by the retailer/adviser/platform. The bundled version (which HL use) pays HL commissions. A number of which are not disclosed. Most clean funds where the bundled version has an AMC of 1.50% are coming in around 0.75% AMC for the clean version.

Clean funds are currently being issued by fund houses at varying speeds. Some have already done it. Some are yet to. They will be required by platform review. Some are issuing no-trail versions for RDR and intend on a clean version later but many are going straight to clean.

Note that the This Is Money article has got some of its facts wrong. Neither ATS nor Interactive Investor gets a 0.75% rebate on Invesco Perpetual Income. ATS gives 0.5%; Interactive Investor gives 0.64%. So the latter is potentially a better deal, but it depends how much you are investing. If you are investing more than £60,000, the extra rebate in comparison with Cavendish will exceed the cost of the quarterly account fee.

0.75% would be the expected rebate on a full unbundled platform. The hybird options that havent quite moved fully to unbundled but are a bit of both may be less.

Is there a drop dead date for the providers to be offering clean bundles?
